Top 4 Baby Carriers or Wraps I am Considering Buying for my Newborn

Mar 29, 2022

I am currently 38 weeks with our third baby and am on the hunt for an upgraded baby carrier to use for this baby so that I can also keep up with my twin toddlers. I had a cheap wrap & cheap carrier with the twins, and didn’t invest much on those since I knew they likely wouldn’t get a ton of use. I’m expecting to use one a lot more frequently this time.

I narrowed down my selection to the TOP 4 I am considering and then turned to my Instagram followers to see if any other moms had a favorite in my TOP 4 and requested some firsthand feedback from them. Here’s a recap of how the votes weighed in on these baby carriers & feedback I received.

Baby Wraps + Carriers in the TOP 4

+ Solly Baby Wrap (Top Left)

+ Ergobaby Embrace (Top Right)

+ Babybjorn Mini (Bottom Left)

+ WildBird Ring Sling  (Bottom Right)

FEEDBACK

Additional thoughts and feedback from my mama followers on Instagram who weighed in on the TOP 4.

+ Solly Baby Wrap

A good light weight fabric for Summer. Soft & cozy once in, but harder & longer to put on, especially with the pressure of a fussy baby waiting.

Super easy & quick to put on and is comfy! My cousin has this one and seeing her put it to use in person had me very intrigued. She quickly put it on, the fabric (jersey) looked very soft & cozy and baby seemed very content in the carrier.

Easy to put on & take off (many said this!). Has good support to use past newborn days.

+ has a learning curve & takes practice, but once you figure it out it is so easy to use. Great for newborn days.

COMMON CONSENSUS

+ Many mamas liked different wraps for different stages. Fabric wraps for the earlier newborn days & then a more structured carrier when the baby was older.

+ The Babybjorn seems to be the easiest of all of these to put on. Any mom that voted for it raved about the ease of putting it on. Which is essential, always, but especially when I will have older toddlers to tend to at the same time.

+ One mama had 3 of these Top 4 – the Solly Baby, Babybjorn Mini, and the Ring Sling. She said she reached for the Babybjorn every time out of the 3 she had!

COST SAVING TIPS

+ Look for a used wrap or carrier on Poshmark, Mercari, Facebook Marketplace, etc. There are tons of gently used options out there! I plan to search this myself.

+ Look on Amazon item listings for the “Other Sellers On Amazon” section. You can shop options where the box has been opened by the item is still in “Very Good” condition. Not all products have this option available, but it’s worth checking. As I write this I see options for the Ergobaby Embrace that are $20-$30 cheaper than new. The section will look like the image below.
