A day in the life - Tuesday, 5.15.18 Edition

May 17, 2018

Hey all - I have never written a day in the life post, but learned of the link-up on  Emily's post last Friday and thought I'd give it a go. My week days aren't overly exciting, but I think it's fun to take a peek into people's days & I'm sure it will be fun to look back on these posts myself over time. So, let's get started --

Tuesday - 5.15.18

6:45 AM - Wake Up Time - I don't typically start my days too early since I live relatively close to work and have no one to get prepped in the morning besides myself, I am most certainly not a morning person. I set my alarm at 6:00 AM and had intended to go for a morning walk, but I opted for snooze instead since I didn't go to sleep the night prior until 11 PM.

I instead got up and decided to take some quick measurements of my entry-way (image at the beginning of post). My co-worker has gotten into wood working and is building us a wedding gift. She suggested  the bench below because she's been wanting to build it. Since I'll be bringing my shiplap coat rack to  the shouse and it has 10 ft ceilings and a much bigger living room / entry way, I think it will be nice to switch things up a touch and pair my rack with a slightly bigger bench. I plan to use my current bench at the foot of our bed. I'm excited to style this up a bit differently! I have my eye on  4 of these baskets to pair with the bench, at $6 a piece, they seem like a steal!

8:30 AM -
Work day begins. Cup of coffee in my new mug (obviously I'm really into our wedding color) & some planning. Then I head into our morning meeting and start out the day. I'm a Recruiter and on Tuesdays we run payroll so we spend the bulk of our mornings reminding people to enter their time.

11:45 PM - Lunch - My lunch time is flexible and I typically take it anywhere from 11:30 - 1:30. I ran to my favorite nail salon up the street to get a dip manicure during my break. I have my first wedding shower Friday, and am using that an an excuse to treat myself.

After my manicure, I swung through Starbucks because I want to send  the Cattleman's cousin a gift card for designing  our wedding invites for free. I treated myself to a venti green tea lemonade - my favorite afternoon refresher.

5:30 PM - Head out of the office for the day. My hours are currently 8:30-5:30.
[When I move and increase my commute in 2 weeks, I'll be changing those hours. I am thinking I'll start with 7:30 - 4:30 and see how that goes. My boss is flexible and told me to play around with it and see what works.]

This evening I took the night off from the gym since I went to an Orange Theory class last night and am still adjusting. I'll be back at it tomorrow.  So, this night called for errands and house work.

JCPenney for an online return, then I ran down the road for a quick TJ MAXX stop and an Aldi's run. The Aldi's I was in had a whole wall of wine + beer. Quite a sight.

Home sweet home - It was nearly 8 PM before I made it home, I love my little front door, I got that wreath on clearance for $15 before my showings - also, combination lockbox due to said showings.

Next I poured a glass of wine (with ice because it came from my Aldi's run - wasn't too shabby)and made some dinner + did a bit of meal prep.

I rounded out the evening by opting to start packing some boxes (and avoiding the dishes). I boxed up my books/notebooks and also started boxing up all my living room decor. It makes me feel accomplished to look around my home and see things getting packed, but it's also a touch sad to see the items get tucked away. I'm, eager to put most of it to use in new ways  at the farm.

So, there you have it. A look at a day in my life. Hope you enjoyed this post, I had fun writing it!
