Best of February - A new lamb, calves, family events & house projects

Feb 22, 2019

Happy Friday, all! It's been a bit since I've popped in on a Friday & just like January, there were no Friday Best posts on the blog. Rest assured that all is well on the farm. There has been more snow & ice - giving us a busted gutter,  a tractor needing repairs (twice) and a ridiculously sloppy gravel road - so we are anxiously awaiting Spring.

This week on Monday was our 6-month wedding anniversary, no celebrating, just dinner at home together. We got great news regarding my mother-in-law and her cancer battle (which I don't think I have ever touched on here). I had a fun surprise waiting in my car from Emily H after work. I had dinner with Emily M & my Goddaughter Sophia. We tried the Aldi's  take & bake pizza (because we were craving Imo's and decided to be more budget friendly) for dinner one night - so much pizza for such a small price - verdict = tasty. And tonight my company is having a party to celebrate 20 years in business! Tomorrow we have a family gathering with the Cattleman's side & Sunday we have a few family members coming out to the farm. Hoping to get some cleaning and organizing done this weekend too.

On to the best of February---

We mentioned Millie (one of our sheep) had a lamb - here she is!

February is calving season here on the farm and we've had 5 new calves join the herd so far this season. Many more to come!

On Valentine's Day I woke up to this sweet surprise. We made a special meal together + exchanged simple gifts.
Also, my cousin Emily and I did a Galentine gift swap and mailed eachother packages. I got a picture of what I sent her (below), but tore into my gift too quick to snap a pic - a sheep themed market bag, bath bomb, dove chocolate (including peanut butter ones - so good), face masks, hand balm, a heart mug & all kinds of goodness!

We have had lots of family events this month - A dinner for my brother Stephen's birthday, a belated Christmas gathering on my Dad's side, my cousin Renee's wedding, and a belated Christmas on the Cattleman's Dad's side.

Spring - love these ideas on Spring home decor (including the image above). I need to give our little shouse a Spring refresh. Starting with our entry way & a hall console table. I think I'll purchase this wreath to hang on our shiplap coatrack for a fresh pop of color. I love the bold color.

We have continued house projects going on for increasing storage in our farm shouse - next up = the laundry room. The Cattleman was a bachelor when he built this shouse and was more concerned with the big shop (shed) side of things than the home side (shouse = shed + house in one metal barn building). So, we do not have a linen closet or storage for anything of the sort - we have two bedroom closets and a pantry. I digress.. So, the we are working to add cabinets and more shelving to our laundry room & are adding a butcher block counter for folding/storage/etc. It's a small walkway kind of "room", but I think these budget friendly changes should be pretty impactful.
Some of the basic components from below will be what we are working with - two cabinets with some floating shelves between, a butcher-block counter, and 3 hampers below it. Our space is much smaller - there will be no pretty subway tile or natural light - but this helps show a little bit of a visual

I'm still loving A Million Little Things & found this Spotify playlist. I love the soundtrack on the show.

There ya have it.
