A long weekend in Colorado

Apr 8, 2019

We just got back to the farm today from a Colorado getaway! The Cattleman's cousin was getting married and so a big crew of family from MO headed out to the mountains to celebrate. We stayed Thursday evening through Monday morning & it was just the right amount of time away from home.
I'm feeling extra fortunate to have married into a family that is just as awesome and loving as my own. Here's a quick look at our trip highlights::

We had origianlly planned to fly in on Friday morning, but after Southwest cancelled our outbound flight, we had to re-work our plan. So, we each took off early on Thursday and flew in late that evening.
Comfy airport style - leggings / tee / tennies (so comfy!)

This way we could be nice and refreshed for a day of exploring on Friday. We flew into Denver and stayed in Loveland. We ended up renting a minivan because we had a group of 5 (and luggage) that would need to fit. We kept getting jokes about if this was just practice for when we have our twins..so I had to snag a picture of Danny with the van. He didn't end up hating it, but we certainly won't be getting one any time soon.

Friday we adventured to Estes Park & The Rocky Mountain National Park. We traveled up with my in-laws and enjoyed a lunch at a local spot, sight-seeing, and a fun little road trip. Then we came back to hang at the hotel for the free happy hour (virgin margarita for me), had a quick dinner at a local bar & caught up with more family all night.

Saturday started out with hotel breakfast and a roadtrip around to sightsee and kill time before the wedding. Our farm boys don't sit idle well and wanted to be out and about. Then it was back to the hotel to get ready for the wedding. It was a lovely outdoor wedding & the venue was decorated so nicely. Local honey wedding favors + a photo booth were a definite win too. The bartenders even whipped me up fun, fruity mocktails. After the wedding we all gathered at the hotel to keep the party going, such a fun group.

I went with this maternity dress & got tons of compliments. It was so comfy and has lots of room to grow, may have to wear it for a baby shower.

Sunday called for a lazy morning and then a big group of us went out to one family member's farm & then headed over to the parents of the bride's home for dinner + gift opening. We loved getting some low-key time with everyone and Danny got to spend time with his Godson Jackson who lives out in CO. Their bond is special even though they don't get to see eachother often.
I was a BIG fan of this Lagunitas Sparkling Hop Water. It tasted just like my beloved IPAs & were a fun zero alcohol option to pop open for all the hanging out we did this weekend. Now if only I could find them back in MO.

Now it's Monday and it was our travel day back. We made it back to the farm by late afternoon and got to enjoy the 77 degree weather here for a bit before relaxing to prep for the week. Back to adulting (aka work) tomorrow. Looking forward to what the rest of April has in store.

  1. What a fun trip! We have a wedding to go to in Colorado in July (we're driving the 14 hours!) and I'm excited to explore out there. It's nice not being part of the wedding party because we'll have more time do stuff on our own. Love your dress, btw!
